Our âÂÂDaddyâÂÂ, âÂÂGranddaddyâÂÂ, âÂÂDaddy Fletcherâ and âÂÂUncle Fletcherâ worked at the Newport News Shipyard for 38 years and always came home with a cheerful smile and kisses. After work, his day continued to be busy with the upkeep of his smokehouse, garden, and tending to his livestock. The dinner tables of many people in the neighborhood, in addition to his own, were adorned with the fruits of his labor. In his free time, you could find him fishing on the James River Bridge Pier or on the Blackwater River.
