Surrounded by loved ones, Mary Ann Cannaday Robinson accepted the call home and peacefully transitioned from labor to reward on Tuesday, March 12, 2013. She was born in Roanoke, VA on January 24, 1952, to Barbara Jean Gravely Cannaday and the late Billy K. Cannaday Sr.

Mary Ann accepted Christ an early age and was baptized at First Baptist Church-Gainsboro. After high school, she furthered her education by attending A&T University and graduated from Roanoke College with a degree in Psychology. She spent many years working in the Roanoke City Public School System. Mary Ann was currently employed at Highland Park Elementary School, where she taught fourth grade math and science. Her love for children and her passion for learning was obvious to all who knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her always loving and devoted husband of 35 years, James L. Robinson Jr.; two devoted sons, Marcus L. Robinson, of O'Fallon, IL and Cameron D. Robinson, of Richmond, VA; one loving and devoted daughter, Kristen (Frank) English, of Hagerstown, MD; three grandsons who were her pride and joy, Jahdai and Drayven English and Jailen Robinson; mother, Barbara J. Cannaday; brothers, Dr. Billy K. (Quincey) Cannaday Jr., of Chesterfield County, VA and M. Wray Cannaday, of Warrenton, NC. Others rejoicing in her memory include nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncle, other relatives and many friends.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held noon Saturday, March 16, 2013, at First Baptist Church-Gainsboro with the Dr. Kenneth B. Wright officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Williams Memorial Park. Friends may call on Friday afternoon for viewing at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home.
